What a great tournament this year. I would have to say it was some of the best competition we have ever seen at this annual event.
Bobby Reynolds defeated Francisco Rodriguez this year for the Singles Title. And Bobby Reynolds and GA Tech’s own Jordan Delass won the doubles title against Donald Young and Colt Gaston.
We had a blast with Sam Crenshaw of 11 Alive news and Karen Graham from Fox 5 news, on Saturday at the exhibition match.
The raffle raised $775 for Special Pops Tennis.
We had the daily prize patrol where prizes were thrown into the stands.
Hopefully the local Atlanta tennis community is more aware of the exciting level of play they can watch for free at GA Tech during the GA Tech Men’s home season. You can find details about schedules at www.ramblinwreck.com.
Check out the March Issue of the Alta Net News for a complete wrap up of the tournament.
If anyone wants their entire shoot folder, the cost for this folder is $85.00. Contact Rico Lozier for details about purchasing a folder at: tennis43@hotmail.com or 770-364-3939. This link is still being updated. Please e-mail Rico if you can identify some of the players.
We would like to hear any feed back you had from this year’s tournament. Please send your comments to healthytennis@bellsouth.net. We are also going to hold a t-shirt design contest. You can submit your designs to us for next year’s t-shirts at healthytennis@bellsouth.net.

A note from Kenny Thorne, tournament director and Head Coach of GA Tech Men's Tennis Team: "One of my main goals in hosting this tournament here at the GA Tech campus is to create more exposure for the sport of college tennis. In fact, this year we are proud to have four Yellow Jackets playing. By and large the tennis community here in Atlanta is unaware of the exciting level of play they can come out and watch for free. We have a great home schedule this year, including UGA, as well as a very exciting ACC home schedule. We are adding things this year to make it more fun for the fans who come out to watch our home matches. For example there will be appearances by the Tech Pep Band as well as contests and giveaways. We would appreciate your support for GA Tech Men's tennis by coming out to root for the home team and by supporting us financially if you so choose. Our goal is to create a men's tennis program that is totally self-sufficient. Currently two of these goals would be to have endowments in place for scholarships and an indoor scoreboard. Schedule and donation information can be found at www.ramblinwreck.com. If you are interested in financial contributions please make your check out to Alexander-Tharpe Fund and be sure to write on the bottom of your check, Men's Tennis Program. New sponsor levels and benefits are currently being designed. You can mail your check to Alexander-Tharpe Fund, Inc.150 Bobby Dodd Way, N.W. Atlanta, Georgia 30332-0455 Phone: (404) 894-5414."
